Materials We Use at 3DPeakPrint

At 3DPeakPrint, we choose our 3D printing materials based on what’s best for the final product — whether that means strength, flexibility, weather resistance, or eco-friendliness. Here’s a breakdown of the main materials we use, and why we use them.

🌱 PLA – For Wargaming Bases, Scale Models & Labels

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a plant-based biodegradable plastic — ideal for hobby and display items. We use it for:

  • Wargaming bases (round, oval, square)
  • Scale model accessories (T, Z, N, TT, OO, HO, O Gauge)
  • 3D printed labels, stickers, and signage inserts

Why PLA:

  • Crisp detail and a smooth finish
  • Lightweight and paint-friendly
  • Eco-conscious and compostable (in industrial conditions)
  • Perfect for indoor use and tabletop hobby projects

☀️ PETG – For Outdoor Signs & 3D Letters

PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) is used when durability is key — especially outdoors or in high-wear environments.

Why PETG:

  • Weatherproof and UV-resistant — won’t fade or warp
  • Stronger and more flexible than PLA
  • Great for house signs, exterior displays, and 3D letters
  • Clean finish and excellent long-term durability

🔧 ABS – For Heat-Resistant & Impact-Prone Parts

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a tough, impact-resistant plastic used for parts that need extra strength and temperature stability.

Why ABS:

  • Excellent for mechanical or functional prints
  • Higher heat resistance than PLA or PETG
  • Durable under stress and regular handling
  • Used selectively for specialist applications where performance matters

We typically use ABS on request or for specific engineering-style parts. It’s less suited to decorative items, but perfect for demanding projects.
